Response to Kharkyn's post

This is an intersting account of women's participatory action. While reading this, I do not know whether this is a case of empowerment or exploitation. The way in which these women have been integrated into the politicial movement of the country, on the basis of their social status is a bit difficult for me to accept. I just do know if it is ethically appropriate to use women has a ploy to fuel political motivations. Now, if these women feel as though they are gaining a viable sense of empowerment, who am I to that it is wrong, however from the outside looking in, I just feel that it is a bit wrong to use women's political activism as means to promote a political agenda of this nature.

  1. Politician's, even ethical ones, will attempt to associate themselves with whatever appears to have currency, or, in this instance, attempt to co-opt feminism as a means of neutralizing its effects. Feminists know better as do most people. But how odd that any government would pay women to speak - ever! That's one for the books.A zillion years of women's history has been "shut up". Now they've invented female heavies!
